PRICE TRANSPARENCY

From 6th December 2018, Solicitors must publish and display prices to better inform the public. Most institutions can publish prices without any difficulty; however solicitors have always been historically tricky. Solicitors are permitted to charge hourly rates (Charge Out Rates), which gives recognition to the experience and the number of years after a Solicitor has qualified (post qualification experience) and this is multiplied by however much time that particular Solicitor has worked on a file.

Charge out rates will apply to all the work done on your case including time spent on the telephone, reading incoming post, dictating outgoing letters, preparing file notes of meetings, considering and drafting documents, preparing instructions and briefs to barristers, researching law where necessary, travelling, attending conferences with barristers, attending at Court, meetings with you, meetings with the lawyers acting for the other person in your case or other people connected with the case, taking statements from witnesses and so on.

At Newland Solicitors, we want to be as transparent as possible and the below prices are an indication on average cost. However we reserve the right to charge additional costs when a case becomes more complex than originally envisioned, however clients will always be kept up to date on matters of cost.
